The local bylaw covers isolated wetlands, vernal pools and ponds of any size, with jurisdiction within 100 feet of those areas and 200 feet of any river or stream.

The Commission presumes that work within 50 feet of a resource area, or within 100 feet of the bank of a perennial stream or river, will harm it, and natural vegetation there is meant to stay. Plan patios, walls and pools outside those strips when you can.
