Most people want a fence for one of three reasons: privacy from the neighbors, keeping kids and dogs in, or a pool that needs a safety barrier. We'll build the one that fits the reason, the house and the budget.

02Built for frost
A fence is only as straight as its posts.
Fences lean and gates sag when the posts move. In New England that means frost pushing up on shallow posts, or posts sitting in wet soil. We set posts to handle the freeze, check the property line before we dig, and hang gates so they still close in five years.

- Set deep enough and backfilled so frost can't jack them up.

- Sturdy gate posts and hardware so gates don't drag or sag.
- Follows the grade
- Stepped or racked panels on slopes, so there are no gaps underneath.
Materials
Wood, vinyl or metal.
Each one looks different and ages differently. We'll talk through upkeep, look and cost on the site visit.
- Wood
- Warm, natural look. Cedar weathers to gray, or it can be stained. Needs occasional upkeep.
- Vinyl
- Low maintenance. Won't rot or need paint. Comes in privacy, picket and semi-privacy styles.
- Metal
- Black aluminum or steel. See-through and clean, a common choice around pools.

Do I need a permit for a fence?
Some towns require one, especially for taller fences, and most have height limits for front yards. Pool fences have their own rules. We'll check your town's requirements before we build.
Where exactly is my property line?
We work from your plot plan or existing survey markers. If the line isn't clear, a surveyor should mark it before a fence goes in, since moving a fence later is expensive.
Wood or vinyl?
Wood looks warmer and costs less up front, but needs upkeep and eventually replacing boards. Vinyl costs more at the start and needs very little care. Both last when the posts are set right.
What does a pool fence need?
A barrier that meets code, including height and self-closing, self-latching gates. The town building department checks it. We build pool fencing to those rules. Plunge pools →
Can you replace an old, leaning fence?
Yes. We take down and haul away the old fence, reset or replace the posts properly, and put up the new one.
