Scenic roads
Chestnut, Essex, Lowell, Main and Summer Streets are designated scenic roads. Cutting trees or removing any part of a stone wall in the public right-of-way needs Planning Board consent after a public hearing. That can matter for driveway widening and frontage walls.

Check before working near wetlands
The town asks residents to check with Planning & Conservation before any yard work within 100 feet of a wetland, 200 feet of a stream, or in a mapped floodplain.

Who the local wetland bylaw applies to
Lynnfield's own wetland bylaw covers commercial projects, multi-unit projects and new houses on new lots. Improvements to an existing single-family home fall under the state act instead, which still requires a filing near wetlands.

The Lynnfield Center Water District's restrictions follow Ipswich River flow, from overnight-only watering down to hand-held or a full ban. South Lynnfield is served by a different district. Check which one serves you and its current level.

Pushing snow onto streets, sidewalks or hydrants is prohibited, and homeowners are responsible for their plow contractor's violations.

I'm on Summer Street. Can I rebuild the stone wall at the road?
If the wall is in the public right-of-way of a scenic road, removing any part of it needs Planning Board consent after a hearing. Walls on your own property behind the right-of-way don't.
Does Lynnfield's wetland bylaw apply to my patio?
For an existing single-family home, usually not. The state act applies instead, which still means a filing if you're within 100 feet of a wetland or 200 feet of a stream.
Can you plow my driveway in Lynnfield?
